The Seattle Art Museum presents Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Gainsborough: The Treasures of Kenwood House, London. The exhibition, originally part of a neoclassical villa the Iveagh Bequest, reflects the taste of the English aristocrats of Belle Epoques and will consist of forty-eight works of art on tour. These paintings have never traveled to the States, and this is part of a four city tour stop before returning to England.
Among the works on view will be Rembrandt’s Portrait of the Artist (ca. 1665), Anthony van Dyck’s Princess Henrietta of Lorraine Attended by a Page (1634), Thomas Gainsborough’s Mary, Countess Howe (ca. 1764), Frans Hals’s Pieter van den Broecke (1633), and Joshua Reynolds’s Lady Louisa Manners (1779).
