This class focuses on direct observational portrait painting from a live model. The course emphasizes “seeing”, simplifying, and the importance of beginning a painting well. We will discuss color as it relates to skin tones and better understand how to achieve a“likeness” of the sitter. 16” x 20” canvas or prepared board each class,Paints (oil or acrylic): Titanium white (large tube), naples yellow, lemon yellow, cadmium yellow, cadmium orange, cadmium red, alizarin crimson, cerulean blue, ultramarine blue, viridian green, pthalo greenPalette knife- 2” teardrop shaped suggestedBrushes: min 2 rounds, 2 flats (# 6, #8)Roll of paper towels or painting ragsHandheld mirror, vine charcoal sticks, 2 small containers with lids for medium and solvent
