Palo Alto, California, September 29, 2014, The Pacific Art League announces the opening of two new exhibitions. All are invited to celebrate at the opening reception Friday, October 10th, from 5:30 – 8:00 PM. PAL is located at 668 Ramona Street, downtown Palo Alto.

On display in the main galleries is Landscapes, Seascapes & Urbanscapes, an exhibition featuring approximately 80 works selected by guest juror Sara Kabot, Head of Exhibitions at the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Center for Visual Arts at Stanford University. The enthusiasm from artists wanting to participate has been stellar; “We received a record-shattering 343 submissions, more submissions than any of our juried shows ever!” Said PAL Gallery Manager Anna Speaker. Awards will be given out at the Opening Reception, October 10th. The variety of the works on exhibit is fascinating, showing both traditional and contemporary interpretations of the landscape theme, and using a variety of mediums including photography, digital art, painting, printmaking and mixed media.

Also opening is Caroline Mustard – Mobile Digital Artist, with over 50 pieces exhibited in the Corridor Gallery, all created digitally by painting on an iPad using the two apps Procreate and Paper by 53. Mustard’s work is inspired by her surroundings; “My themes are all things from the world around me. My influences are Matisse, the fauve movement and David Hockney. I am a colorist.” Don’t miss the artist talk and demo covering mobile digital art, its impact on the art world, and what it offers to artists existing and new, Friday October 3rd, at 6:00 PM, followed by a wine and cheese reception. The public are welcome to bring their mobile devices and follow along. Well known in the mobile art community, Caroline Mustard recently co-produced the successful mDAC (mobile digital art & creativity) summit held at PAL in August, and is a well-known PAL instructor of iPad/digital art.
