Gallery Route One continues to offer a professional venue for artists and visitors alike, and has been a vital force in West Marin since 1983 through contemporary shows and community outreach. Honoring a vibrant tradition which began thirty-five years ago, GRO is pleased to announce its 2020 Annual Juried Exhibition of two and three-dimensional art, This Is Just To Say. Juried by Richmond Arts Center exhibitions director Amy Spencer, this gallery-wide show presents an expansive diversity of media, ideas and art processes in a large body of innovative work from the studios of thirty-seven contributing artists of widely variant backgrounds.
About the exhibit’s theme, Spencer says, “I saw the process of jurying this exhibition as an opportunity to discover artwork that is different, new and unexpected. This Is Just To Say, from the poem by William Carlos Williams, was selected as something simple that could encompass many things that are not so simple. And the selected works in this exhibition do just that; they offer visual ideas that are ambiguous yet relatable, strange yet familiar, fantastical yet fun.”
The selected artists in the exhibit include: Charles Anselmo, Daniel Becker, Ken Berman, Stacy Boom, Marna Clarke, Cynthia Correia, Daniel Crowe, Ann Dodge, Jeff Dunn, Dale Eastman, Brittany Eaton, Joeann Edmonds-Matthew, Richard Esteb, James Finnegan, Barbara Foster, Timothy Graveson, Victoria Hamlin, Cele Hanzel, Corrine Haverinen, Steven Hurwitz, Betsy Kendall, Kathryn Kenworth, Sarah Klein, Marie-Luise Klotz, Carol Law, Diana Marto, Tatyana Mironova, Zea Morvitz, James Mullen, Gloria Olson, Renee Owen, Elizabeth Sher, Suzanne Stroebe, Patti Trimble,Vickisa, Devin Wilson, and June Yokell.
A regional landmark since 1983, Gallery Route One is an arts organization located in the town of Point Reyes Station, adjacent to the entry for Marin County’s Point Reyes National Seashore. Besides offering rotating exhibits by member artists, GRO also maintains its outreach programs: the Latino Photography Project, the Artists in the Schools Program, as well as exhibitions in the Project Space addressing environmental, immigration and social justice issues.
