Gallery 25 and Creative Arts Studio opens a new show on March 27 called “Emergence”. During the long winter months of COVID, artists have been creating new paintings and photographs for your walls, beautiful and functional glass and pottery, plus jewelry and cards. The Gallery is also showcasing local artists who took an 8 x 10 canvas or paper and have created their special piece during the snows of this past winter. Located at 11 Railroad Street in New Milford, the Gallery is sponsored by the New Milford Commission on the Arts. The new show “Emergence” will run from March 27 – May 30, 2021 and the “When the Snow Flies” from March 27 – April 25, 2021. The Gallery is also expanding its hours starting March 27th to be 10 am – 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays. For more information visit the website: www.gallery25ct.com.
The new paintings, photographs, jewelry, glass, pottery and cards range from contemporary to traditional including local scenes. Lorraine Ryan has created a series of paintings of the area barns that have painted quilts on them. Sergio Villaschi has captured the beauty of tulips in his photographs. Through the careful use of post-processing techniques, he gives new life to everyday objects, flowers, or fruits and re-interprets the reality of a photo as he envisions it. Carol Moore uses old lace to create patterns on pottery making interesting plates and bowls. Leigh Graham uses recycled pieces of jewelry, some vintage, combining stones, glass beads, and metal findings to create gorgeous necklaces. This is just a sampling, so do come and see all the member artists talents.
During the winter months, local artists were invited to come and take home a canvas or paper and create whatever they like. “When the Snow Flies” was an opportunity to get free material plus no entry fee, create a piece of artwork and then have the work hung in a gallery. The works will be on display throughout the month of April.
Starting March 27, Gallery 25 is expanding their hours on Saturday’s and Sundays to 10am to 4pm as we continue to embrace the arts and contribute to the New Milford community. Thanks to the town of New Milford and the Commission on the Arts we find our home in the historic railroad station in the heart of a vibrant downtown that includes fine restaurants, an Art Deco movie theater and many unique shops. We look forward to a more Covid-free time when we can extend our hours more and have more events.
