Thirty-six of the finest plein air painters from across the country will put brush to canvas to capture the summer light over the waters and fields of Door County, Wisconsin. The Festival, presented by Peninsula School of Art, will provide a full line-up of free and ticketed events for painting enthusiasts of all ages to experience the art of painting out of doors.
In its tenth year, the Festival is kicked off with featured artists scheduled to paint in scenic destinations on Monday through Wednesday, July 25-27, from 11am-2pm. Attendees are encouraged to speak with the artists about their work and inspirations while watching them create at their easels.
The Collector’s Preview and Gala Auction, which offer the first rights of purchase of the featured artists’ paintings, are scheduled for Friday evening, July 29. A number of events occur in Sister Bay’s Waterfront Park on Saturday the 30th, including the Featured Artists’s Quick Paint, Dockside Paint Out, and Kids’ Paint – all from 9-11AM. The paint outs are followed by a live auction at noon of the Festival featured artists’ paintings created that morning.
The public exhibition and purchase of Festival works runs from July 30- August 13, 2016.
