Join us for a collective painting event under the Shiawassee Bridge on the Lansing River Trail just north of the City Market. “Community Growth” is a paint-by-number mural project that aims to bring people together and create a powerful sense of community with one another. A paint-by-number mural is an artist led project supported by the community. This mural will be painted on the under the Shiawassee Bridge on the East side of the Grand River.

Join artist Mia Serafini in ARTpath’s first interactive mural, which will offer the community an opportunity to contribute to the creation of a large scale work of art. Everyone is welcome, and you may come for some or all of the times/days scheduled. No RSVP is required. Wear comfortable clothes and closed toe shoes you can paint in; paint and brushes will be provided.

Mia says, “Through vibrant color, loose patterns, and expressive mark making, I create abstract still life paintings of the seemingly mundane objects that surround me. I want the mural to bring people together to create a powerful sense of community around the common goal of completing a collaborative art piece. The imagery of the mural will be a vibrant and abstract painting of floral growth to represent the growing community of Lansing.” Mia received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Michigan State University and paints out of her home studio in Ferndale, MI.

Note: Rotary Park is under construction however there is access to the mural available on the North side of Shiawassee Bridge and a gallery representative be on site.

ARTpath is supported in part by the City of Lansing’s Parks & Recreation Department, Tri-County Regional Planning Commisson, Greater Lansing Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Arts Council of Greater Lansing, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, and Ingham County.
