CAF17 Workshop: Art of the Silhouette
Trinity School at River Ridge
Apr. 8, 2017, 02:00 pm
In 1926 film director Lotte Reiniger animated and directed the oldest surviving feature-length animated film, The Adventures of Prince Achmed. The movie, along with most of Reiniger’s work, is entirely silhouette. A master of the medium, Reiniger constructed fantastical and elaborate animated worlds by simply layering and manipulating paper cutouts.
Working within these tight constraints she produced art of beauty, delicacy, and expression. Join Andrew Carr in cutting out and recreating some of Reiniger’s classic characters, designs, and patterns – and in creating your own original silhouette compositions. The workshop and all materials are provided free of charge. No reservation is required.
