Artist Roberto Visani and curator David Rios Ferreira will lead a walkthrough of Roberto Visani: Form/Reform for a small group of in-person participants as well as an online audience, then talk about the exhibit and answer questions.

This event is sponsored by the Vermont Humanities Council through a grant to support a series of public programs on how the history and experiences of people of color are reflected in contemporary art. The series features BIPOC artists and curators who use archival and historic materials to draw connections between the past and present. This is the first event in the series, which will take place throughout 2022.

Roberto Visani is a multimedia artist who has exhibited at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, The Studio Museum in Harlem, The Bronx Museum, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and Barbican Galleries. Visani has been awarded residencies from Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Chelsea College of Art, and Abrons Art Center. He is a NYFA Fellow in Sculpture and was a Fulbright Fellow to Ghana. Since 2004, he has taught at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where he is an associate professor of art.

David Rios Ferreira has exhibited in galleries and museums in the U.S. and abroad. His awards include a New Jersey State Council on the Arts Fellowship, the Innovative Cultural Advocacy Fellowship from the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute, a National Association of Latino Arts & Culture Fund for the Arts grant, and the ArtSlant Grand Prize. David Rios Ferreira holds a B.F.A. from The Cooper Union.He curated the BMAC exhibit Jennifer Mack-Watkins: Children of the Sun, and his own work was exhibited at BMAC in 2018 (David Rios Ferreira: And I Hear Your Words That I Made Up).
