To Feature Original Work from the
Stamford Museum & Nature Center Warhol Collection

Stamford, CT December 5, 2014 – Working on their own “fifteen minutes of fame,” members of the Loft Artists Association will bring pop artist Andy Warhol “back to life” with their personal interpretations from the vast array of art that he produced.

Inspired by the collection of prints by Andy Warhol in the permanent collection of The Stamford Museum & Nature Center — two of which will be on view at the Opening Reception on February 20 — the exhibition in the East Gallery will be open from 1 to 4:30 pm from February 21 to March 22.

“Warhol’s work spanned a variety of styles beyond his famous soup cans,” president Ellen Gordon states. “This show gives our members — and the public — a chance to experience one genre of his art from the museum’s world-class collection, as well as to enjoy our own ‘outside the box’ LAA member creations.

“But beyond that, we will renew a community collaboration between LAA and SM&NC that dates back to the 1970’s — reviving an “Uptown-Downtown” connection that can enrich both our organizations.”

Curator Kirsten Brophy says, “The Stamford Museum & Nature Center is delighted to continue its work with the Loft Artists Association to increase access to fine art for the entire Stamford community.”

“Andy Warhol Lives Again” is open Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4:30 pm. Admission and parking are free. Handicapped access is available. For directions and more information visit www.loftartists.com or call 203-247-2027.
