The Greenwich Art Society presents a Zoom Event
Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going?: 2020, A Turning Point for Museums
with Laura D. Corey, PhD, The Metropolitan Museum of Art
The impact of the year 2020 has reverberated widely through the museum world. Extended periods of closure in response to Covid-19 challenged institutions to enliven and expand their digital programs, while discussions of racial equity and social justice brought increased scrutiny to who museums serve and how. Embarking on a new chapter in the history of museums will entail deep reflection on the past and stimulate creativity from institutions and artists. Hear from Laura Corey, who co-curated The Metropolitan Museum’s 150th anniversary exhibition Making The Met, 1870-2020 and is now Project Manager for Curatorial, Conservation, and Science Initiatives and Senior Researcher in the Director’s Office at The Met.
Tuesday, March 16 @ 5:30. Fee – $45
