Scud: The colloquial term in “Ocra-brogue” (the dialectic from Ocracoke Island, NC) meaning to cruise around either by sea or land for pleasure.

The OBX ART TRUCK is a mobile gallery located on Roanoke Island, North Carolina. The truck’s mission is to create an intersection between communities historically underexposed to contemporary practices in the arts and Southeastern artists. The truck is a 1991 Ford f150 with an 8-foot bed where interactive / community engaged works happen.

This mini-residency / exhibition invites artists from GA, FL, NC, SC, and VA to a 3-4 night stay in our home to execute the proposed work, and asks artists to participate in one event with the community, whether that be a work in motion or a work that remains stationary. The call is open to any media, including performance and sound based works. Three residencies will happen between May – August. Works must be able to withstand speeds up to 45 mph if it is a work in motion, as well as the possibility of rain or wind. Works cannot permanently alter the truck.

We are fifteen minutes to beautiful beaches, Jockey’s Ridge State Park, kayaking and fishing. We are a couple who share our home with two sweet dogs (one medium, one small) and a goofy cat. We’ll cook you a big dinner, put you up in our guest room, and provide amenities for your stay. Whether that be boats, fishing gear, coffee, tea, beach towels or sunscreen, we probably got you covered.
