RFQ – Call for Entries (Credentials)

MURAL ARTIST, Day Care Center, Pomona, NY 10970

Rockland County Art in Public Places Committee seeks an experienced Muralist who can design and execute a mural for inside the front entrance to a day care center.

PROJECT GOALS and CONSIDERATIONS
Rockland Worksite Day Care Center has provided 30+ years of Universal Pre-K to children up to age 4. Currently, 70 families benefit from the Day Care Program. The goal is to enhance the entryway and add to the children’s and visitors’ enjoyment of the space.

SPECIFICATIONS
The dimensions of the sheet rock wall are 94”h x 88”w with two side walls 94”h x 24”w. There is a 12” x 12” light that is 35” from the left wall and 36” from the right wall, and 6” from the ceiling. BUDGET
The project budget is $5000 and includes all associated fees and expenses. Finalists will receive $500 for development and presentation of their original design. Site visits
will be arranged for finalists only.

ELIGIBILITY
Artists from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania may apply.
(Rockland County is 25 miles north of midtown Manhattan.)

FINALIST SELECTION
The selection committee will consider the creativity and quality of the design, the relevance to the site in theme, and the durability and safety of the materials.
Finalists will be selected after a review of existing artwork to develop their proposals after which a visual presentation to the selection committee will be made, either in person or virtually.

Your submitted materials should include:
1. Up to five images of previous work. Files should be titled with the name of the artist, title of the mural, dimensions, materials, and the amount (if commissioned).
2. A short description of each work that includes its thematic relevance, its durability and location.
3. Your CV with your full name, address, home/cell number, email and website URL (if you have one).
