Description:
The Torpedo Factory Art Center offers one unpaid slot each semester in marketing and design. Interns receive behind the scenes experience working in marketing and design. This internship will take place May/June through August.
Hours:
The intern will be required to work at least 2 days a week for at least 16 hours a week within core hours, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Mondays through Friday. Extended hours are requested each month for Second Thursdays (until 9 pm) and Late Shift Fridays (until 11 pm), with advanced notification.
Responsibilities:
Interns will work with the marketing manager to establish goals and projects to complete during their internship. Everyday tasks may include researching content to post on social media, maintaining departmental metrics, designing flyers and web graphics, and assisting with executing events. Individual tasks are open to customization based on course needs. Special projects are assigned based on strengths and interests and have included event photography, program planning, and visitor relations.
Requirements:
This position requires that the candidate be a self-starter, able to multitask, and show initiative. Working knowledge of social networking is required, as is rudimentary knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop. The candidate must also be comfortable engaging with the public during events.
Candidates seeking to fill the slot must be seeking class credit.
