Gloucester Celebrations, Inc., the official organizers of Gloucester, Massachusetts’ 400th-anniversary celebration, today announced the city’s International Commemorative Medal Design Competition. This competition is open to artists and designers worldwide, ages 18 and older. Four prizes, ranging from $3,000 to $10,000 (USD), will be awarded. There is no fee to enter.

One of Gloucester’s long-held historic traditions, commemorative medals have been a time-honored part of the city’s historic celebrations for over a century, including its 300th, 350th, and 375th anniversaries. Long-time residents and families, as well as collectible medal and coin aficionados around the world, are already looking forward to the new medal marking the quadricentennial of America’s Oldest Seaport.
