The Fiber Artist Fellowship seeks to provide early-career fiber artists the opportunity to learn new techniques and skills while engaging with a vibrant community of artists from all over the world. Each fellow is awarded two weeks of workshops, housing, and meals (lunch and dinner) during Quilting by the Lake (July 15-27, 2018) in Syracuse, NY. While many of the workshops focus on quilting and surface design- fiber artists of all media are welcome to apply.

Quilting by the Lake (QBL) is an internationally recognized event attracting over 200 participants from around the country and overseas. From the beginning, QBL recruited some of the most innovative and legendary artists to teach and that tradition continues today. Classes are offered in design, techniques, and surface design. In addition to classes, the sessions includes artist lectures, a quilt show, and many other activities.

Fellows have their choice of 15 signature workshops, including independent study. Quilting by the Lake has two week long sessions that offers 2-day, 3-day, and 5 day workshops. Fellows are welcome to combine workshops and independent study to suit their artistic needs. This year’s faculty are: Joe Cunningham, Rosalie Dace, Valerie Goodwin, Ann Johnston, Mickey Lawler, Katie Pasquini Masopust, Jeannette DeNicolis Meyer, Philippa Naylor, Sue Nickels, Jane Sassaman, David Taylor, and Sherri Lynn Wood.
