Dank Memes: Stories of Cultural Viruses, An Epidemic of Imaginary Proportions.
When Richard Dawkins first coined the word “meme” in 1976, he gave examples which included melodies, catch phrases, fashion trends and even the technology of building arches. Put simply, memes are cultural viruses; they’re ideas spread throughout our collective consciousness with a speed we can scarcely observe. As memes mutate and shift — seeding and replicating in the minds of ever-growing numbers of people — their popularity and trending lifespan become signposts which define broader cultural moments. Those memes which worm their way into the minds of the many are the best, the funniest, the dopest — the dankest. But do they also reveal our swelling tendency to shut off our brains and simply let the virus flow in?
Non-Fiction Gallery invites you to dig deep and decode the cultural viruses that live in you: show us your dank memes.

Please label each image in the following manner:
Artist Name _Title _Medium _Dimensions _Year
The subject line for the email should be Dank Memes.
In your submission email please also include a current artist statement, your phone number, address, and artist website.
Your submission will not be reviewed and considered for American Vices until payment is received, and ALL of your information is accounted for.

Please be advised:
1) The artist is responsible for shipping both TO AND FROM Non-Fiction Gallery; a prepaid shipping label addressed “Return to Sender” MUST be included in the packaging to the gallery.
2) All accepted works MUST comply with gallery hanging requirements: picture hanging wire, and/or installation instructions should be mailed with the accepted work.
3) Non-Fiction Gallery will display prices on title cards, if your work is accepted. Non-Fiction Gallery will handle any and all sales transactions between the buyer and the work of art. The commission rate for this exhibition will be 40% to the gallery.
