As part of her career as a tour operator specializing in custom designed trips to Ireland, Clare O’Neill discovered the photography. Clare’s photography as evolved over time. She began as a traditional black & white film photographer, yet her desire to bring depth and texture to her images currently guides her work. Inspired by traditional oil painters, she uses her images as a starting point to manipulate and create works with a three-dimensional quality.

Clare teaches photo encaustic workshops throughout the United States as well as teaching the process online to a world-wide audience. This summer she is offering the first of its kind–a photo encaustic equine workshop where students will have the opportunity to spend time capturing images and then transforming their photographs with pigment and wax (all while taking in the magnificent experience of a western dude ranch).

As publisher of the acclaimed book series, Open to Interpretation, she is dedicated to providing a place for artists to gain recognition and exposure for their work.
