It’s a party! Come and celebrate the inauguration of Poetry as Public Art! Over the summer, eight poems will be etched into city sidewalks in four areas of Lansing—Old Town, REO Town, the Stadium District, and the Eastside—and will become part of our rich public art landscape.

Join the eight winning poets, the Lansing Poet Laureate, and representatives from the City of Lansing, the Arts Council of Greater Lansing, and the Lansing Poetry Club in celebrating the power of art to enrich our lives.

The program will feature readings of the winning poems, a short documentary film about the project, and opportunities to create your own “Poetry Art.”

This project is supported by a grant from the City of Lansing, Michigan – Government, the LEAP, and the Arts Council of Greater Lansing, and was awarded to the Lansing Poetry Club in the fall of 2017.

The event is FREE and open to the public. For more information, contact Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center, Dennis Hinrichsen or Ruelaine Stokes.
