For many years, Don’s art slowly developed through total abstraction and variations of the styles of certain abstract expressionist artists. As a matter of chance, one of these works reminded him of an important painting which he did identify. Since then, the art world has been scoured, looking for any specific work that could be an inspiration for a totally abstract work. Since about 2011, a series has developed into now over fifty pieces. The series is called “Reinterpretation of classical art through geometric abstraction, color field, hard line, and symbolism”.
