The Gallery on the Green has its annual exhibition of “Members’ New Work”. Featured are photography, painting, drawing, prints and sculpture by the membership — one hundred talented local artisans. There will be an opening reception on January 6th, 6 – 9pm.

There are also 2 solo shows. In “Flora and Forms”, Donna Namnoum has assembled vessels of wheel thrown stoneware clay parts. Her process allows for a material centered approach where the inherent qualities of the medium help in the aesthetic decision-making process. Some of the forms are influenced by nature, referencing various forms of vegetation and others are reminiscent of familiar man-made forms. The balls, buds and spiraling forms (all wheel-thrown) are growing from the covers of the ceramic jars. The intent is that the large wheel thrown vessels serve as both the container and the forms’ host. She has exhibited throughout New England and her work has been reviewed by several publications including Artscope Magazine, The Hartford Advocate, Clay Times Magazine, The Hartford Courant, and Art New England.

Jerry Grasso, in his photography exhibit “The Orsini Insanity” presents a modern-day adaptation inspired by Prince Vicino Orsini. In 1547 the prince commissioned sculptured art work dedicated to his wife for the world’s first theme park. She died before the park opened. Grasso’s images journey through the resulting tragic insanity of the prince. Grasso has been an award-winning, international fine art photographer and visual artist since 2002. His favorite motivational quote is that “Life begins at the edge of your comfort zone.” In addition to his travel photography, Grasso specializes in the intimately abstracted architectural photography, the photo essay, and the photo composite series. His mission is to awaken his viewer’s inquisitive inner child by creating an awareness of place and a sense of history, with an aura of mystery.
