The Seasons of Trains
Marlborough Town Hall Gallery
Nov. 1, 2024 - Dec. 31, 2027
Sponsored by the Marlborough Arts Center, the well-known artist, Robert A. LaMay, is exhibiting his “The Seasons of Trains” photographs at the Marlborough Town Hall Gallery at 26 North Main Street in Marlborough during the entire months of November and December 2012. This photo display of railroad related subjects shows a common theme: the four seasons. All photos on display will represent each of the four seasons, all weather conditions, both day and night. Since trains move and operate 24/7, no matter what, in viewing this collection one gets the sense of the trains’ journeys from a train’s perspective.
LaMay says that he has loved to watch and listen to trains pass since he was a child when his father used to take him down to the railroad station in Burlington, VT almost every day. His passion grew and as an adult he continues to go places where he can see and photograph trains in action. He is also an accomplished author, having published a coffee table book entitled “Diesels to Park Avenue – The FKL9 Story”, an all color photography book, as well as numerous articles in various national railroad magazines such as TRAINS, Railroad & Railfan, Railpace, Passenger Train Journal, Railroad’s Illustrated, Railroad Explorer and Railfan Press. His vivid photographs have also appeared in many railroad calendars over the past 15 years. Currently he is the editor of the Ghost Train Journal, a monthly newsletter for the Connecticut Eastern Railroad Museum located in Willimantic, CT.
Robert A. May and his wife live in the Amston section of Hebron and, although retired, he still enjoys photographing trains whenever possible.
