PRIZES:

· A Solo Exhibition during Fall Gallery Night 2017. Fall Gallery Night is an event that occurs once a year during September. It is arguably our most popular opening of year were we anticipate more than 3000 visitors in a single night.

· The Iris Wilson Award ($100 prize)

CALL TO ARTISTS: Only TAC members with active accounts may submit up to 3 artworks open to all disciplines with no theme. To learn more about TAC or become a member please click here. All mediums accepted including oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolors, prints, drawings, mixed media, sculpture, video, installation, photography, and digital art with no size restrictions. The show will occur in Fort Worth Community Arts Center’s premier, 3000 square foot, Front Gallery. All artwork must be original and must not infringe upon any copyright or the rights of any person. The juror is Ann Ekstrom.

ABOUT THE JUROR: Ann Ekstrom is a Fort Worth painter from a family of artists – raised in the art-oriented household of her mother, the late painter and printmaker, Beth Lea Clardy. She earned a B.FA. degree from Texas Christian University, and received additional academic training at the University of Texas at Austin and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia. Ekstrom’s interests and versatility range from printmaking to watercolor painting to large-scale oils. Her 72-foot painting, Hints of a Life, is permanently installed at Tarrant County College, Southeast Campus. Her paintings are included in corporate and private collections across North Texas. Ekstrom is a popular Fort Worth lecturer and has been featured in the Kimbell Art Museum’s program “The Artist’s Eye.” In addition to studio work, Ekstrom currently works as a painting instructor for Texas Christian University’s Extended Education program. She was recently selected by the office of Fort Worth Public Art for a project at Penrose and W. Vickerin the neighborhood now officially known as “Bomber Heights.” Ekstrom is a long-time promoter of Art in the Metroplex; a steering committee member of EASL (Emergency Artists’ Support League), and was recently a member of the Exhibition Advisory Panel of the Fort Worth Community Arts Center.

ABOUT THE VENUE: Located at 1300 Gendy Street, the Fort Worth Community Arts Center is part of the most architecturally significant museum districts in the United States. The striking modern Herbert Bayer building (with a later O’Neil Ford addition) opened to the public in 1954 as home to one of the most prestigious and oldest collecting organizations in the state of Texas, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. When, in 2002, the Modern moved down the street, the Fort Worth Community Arts Center opened. The building has exhibited world class art and supported the performing arts for more than half a century. The Arts Council manages the FWCAC, provides leadership and funding to local arts organizations through our competitive Grants Program and administers the Fort Worth Public Art program.

SUBMISSION: Work will be juried from images submitted only through the gallery’s online submission. $15 submission fee for up to three pieces. Works will not be reviewed if you are not an active TAC Member. Images must be JPEGs with minimum width/height of 800 pixels, maximum size as 3MB. Do not use spaces or special characters (!@$, etc) in image file names. Video and audio files can be submitted through links. FWCAC reserves the right to reject inaccurately represented work, or incomplete submission.

PRESENTATION: Work must be suitably framed (or sides cleanly finished or painted) and ready for hanging. D-rings should be used for heavy works, wires for works under 5lbs. Drawings, prints, watercolors and pastels on paper must be under Plexiglass.

DEADLINE: All applications must be submitted before midnight (CMT) on July 15, 2017. FWCAC will notify applicants by July 25, 2017.

SALES: All work will be for sale unless the artist informs the gallery to the contrary. 25% of proceeds from sales will go to FWCAC and the remainder to the artists.

RECEIVING: Hand-delivered and shipped work must arrive on July 30th or 31st between 9am – 6pm. Substitutions and late arriving work will not be exhibited. Work must remain for the duration of exhibition.

SHIPMENT: All shipped work must have a returned mailing label included and must arrive in a package that can be reused for the return shipment.

REMOVAL: All hand delivered work must be picked up on Aug 28, 2017 from 9 – 6PM. Works not removed on these days will be placed in storage and released at gallery’s convenience. Any work left for 60 days after the assigned pick up date becomes the property of the Arts Center.

IMPORTANT DATES:

· July 15, 2017 – Deadline for submission

· July 25, 2017 – Notifications emailed to artists

· June 30 + July 31, 2017 – Delivery of artwork

· August 4, 2017 – Opening Reception, 6 -9 pm

· August 27, 2017 – Closing

· August 28, 2017 – Show comes down, pick up or repacked for return shipment

USE OF IMAGES: Any image submitted may be used for non-commercial, marketing or promotional purposes directly related to this show. This use may include in any publications, printed materials, advertisements, or electronic media. Copyright and all other rights remain that of the artist.

LIABILITY: This document represents a contract between the Fort Worth Community Arts Center and the person(s) named on this document. Acceptance of this contract is a specific acceptance of the terms listed. Objects exhibited in the FWCAC will be given great care. Unless the artist wishes to provide his/her own insurance coverage, the FWCAC will insure all exhibitions under its existing insurance policy, which covers up to $500,000, against all risks of physical loss or damage while on the premises during the period of the exhibition. If the exhibitor(s) wish to provide his/her own insurance, such actions constitute the release of the FWCAC from any liability in connection with the exhibition. Coverage is not authorized past the exhibition and artwork may not be stored at the FWCAC unless prior arrangements have been made. The FWCAC allows visitors to photograph works of art. Artists are required to contribute 25% from work sold in the exhibition. By submitting your artwork, you are agreeing to the terms above.
