Metro Gallery in City Hall hosts photographer Robert Rollins. Rollins, following in the footsteps of famous photographers such as Ansel Adams, seeks to tell stories with his iconic imagery of the American West – and in this case, the historic Fort Churchill. His careful and considerate landscape photographs are often moody and emotional.

Fort Churchill State Historic Park is located on alternative U.S. 95A, near Silver Springs, Nevada. Construction of Fort Churchill began in July 1860, in response to a rise in conflicts in the area. The moody nature of Rollins’ photographs is understanding of the nature of the area – rugged and unforgiving, and visually expresses the stories of the long forgotten men and women that have inhabited this place in a melancholy way.

Robert Rollins first started with photography over 30 years ago, then using large format film cameras and film. Along the way, he has gained an appreciation for the process; the process being finding the meditation in the journey, and not the destination.
