The Gallery on the Green has its annual exhibition of “Members’ New Work” from January 6th through February 5th. Featured are photography, painting, drawing, prints and sculpture by the membership — one hundred talented local artisans. The public is warmly invited to come and meet the artists at the free opening reception held on Saturday, January 7th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

In addition,upstairs galleries have two solo exhibitions. Julia Parker Post is exhibiting her watercolors in a show entitled, “Travels.” Based on her painting trips in Europe and the Caribbean, her subject matter ranges from the jungles of Costa Rica, monasteries in Northern Italy, the southern coast of Ireland to barns in France. She is a graduate of Hartford Art School and has graduate art degrees from Central Connecticut State University. She is retired from a career as an art teacher in Connecticut public schools.

The second solo show features “The Traveling Valley Artists,” founded by Carol Mintell. Other members are Helen David, Rose Mary Knoll and Claire Padron. Their art work includes watercolors, pastels, as well as acrylic and oil paintings.

The Canton Artists’ Guild at the Gallery on the Green, the longest continuously running artist guild in the state, has 3 separate galleries and hosts 9 month-long exhibitions each year. The gallery is located near the intersection of Dowd Avenue and Route 44 at 5 Canton Green Road in Canton. Hours are Friday – Sunday, 1-5 pm.
The main floor gallery is handicapped accessible.
