The Repatriation of Julia Pastrana is an ongoing project that consists of multidisciplinary works by artist Laura Anderson Barbata to commemorate, explore and address issues related to Pastrana, who was an indigenous woman from Mexico born with hypertrichosis terminalis and gingival hyperplasia who took part in 19th-century exhibition tours in North America and Europe. The project is supported by the Sistema Nacional de Creadores, FONCA CONACULTA, México. Join us for a special performance by Barbata focusing on the life of Julia Pastrana.
