Vacationland, in its catering to appeal to the seasonal tourists, has become the lobster caricature, the pot buoys on the side of the garage, and all the moose-themed paraphernalia available for sale.

The PINE TREE STATEment exhibition invites all Maine artists (and artists with a connection to the great state) to re-imagine, re-assign, re-invent and take ownership of Maine’s iconography. How do you represent all that Maine has to offer: the ocean, forests, lighthouses, animal life, and culinary treats? How can we paint lighthouses and seascapes in a new, more progressive way? How do you represent Maine’s iconographic imagery?

AUTUS Collective, in conjunction with Engine Gallery in Biddeford, Maine is inviting artists to submit proposals for work, or work already in completion (2d, 3d, video, or performance) for consideration for our first juried exhibition.
Guidelines for submitting:
-submissions must be emailed to [email protected] with “Submission” in the subject line
-$10 submission fee, payable via check (made out to “Engine”) and mailed to :

-up to five (5) digital files may be submitted for consideration (include title, date, dimensions, medium)
-the digital files must be in JPEG format with a resolution of 72dpi with a maximum largest dimension of 16 inches
-links to your website are NOT acceptable in lieu of images, unless your work is web-based
-for video work, please include links to where the video can be accessed (personal website, vimeo, youtube)
-artist statement (PDF only) including full contact information (full name, email, address, phone number)
-artist resume (PDF only)
-if you are submitting a proposal for new work, please still submit 5 digital images of previous work, as well as your proposal (PDF only)
-in your email submission, please reference your submission fee’s check number

Please note:
Artists are responsible for either dropping the artwork off in person at Engine (Biddeford, ME), or must ship the works via UPS or FedEx between Friday 11/20/15 and Friday 11/27/15. Paid return shipping labels must be included inside received packages. AUTUS Collective and Engine are not responsible for any shipping costs.
