Portland Museum of Art presents Lois Dodd: Catching the Light. This will be the first museum retrospective of American plein-air painter Lois Dodd. It features paintings that include images of the places that were most important to Lois Dodd—views of New York City’s Lower East Side from her apartment windows and landscapes of the mid-coast Maine.

Dodd is a part of New York’s postwar art and of New York modernists of the last half of the 20th-century. The exhibition will feature 51 works range in date from 1955’s Pasture to 2010’s self-portrait Shadow with Easel.
