Robert Colescott and Jean-Michel Basquiat to Kehinde Wiley and Nina Chanel Abney the Crysler Museum takes an indepth look at artist over the past thirty years and their contribution to America’s current interpretation of art. Contributed by the Rubell Family Collection in Miami, this exhibition brings together 75 works by African-American artists all of whom use a variety of mediums. As some works look at the political and social notions of the role of African Americans others intentionally evoke emotion and concepts with grit and humor.
