Studio Montclair's Leach Gallery
Jan. 31, 2025 - Feb. 28, 2025
An Exhibition commemorating African American and Women’s History Months
Strength and resilience are powerful concepts that are similar but not the same. Strength signifies endurance and toughness, the ability to resist force, while resilience embodies adaptability and flexibility, the ability to recover and move forward in the face of adversity. These qualities characterize both materials and the character of individuals and groups.
Artists were challenged to create artworks that capture either or both essential themes, working in various styles and mediums. The resulting pieces in the exhibition – innovative, thought-provoking, and masterful – convey, through varied subjects and mediums, the spirit and power of resilience and strength.
