Ron Burkhardt, founder of Notism and originator of Earth Art, chronicles a society whose multi-tasking demands intrude on every facet of life. His raw, anti-tech work preserves the primal spirituality of our shared histories. In Notism, Ron's relentless notes explode with energy on the canvas. High-voltage abstract symbols collide in searing ayers of paint and passion, startling in their power to transform language into emotion. Born in Jackson, Michigan, and bred in the urban cauldron of New York city, this artistic pioneer merges frenetic scrawls with organic gesture; a free-spirited conglomeration of design and obsessive colors moving with linear rhythms in all directions. In Earth Art, Ron fuses acrylics, enamel, indigenous soil and water in abstract forms and bleaches the canvas in the sun, creating otherworldly shapes and textures. The bi-coastal Burkhardt has had 50 shows in the past decade and exhibited in dozens of renowned galleries--Philips de Pury, Sothebys and Forbes galleries in Manhattan, Peter Marcelle Contemporary/Southampton, Guild Hall/East Hampton, Paul Fisher Gallery/Palm Beach, Marion Meyer Contemporary/Laguna Beach, One Fine Art Gallery/Chicago, LuminArte Gallery/Dallas, Forster Gallery and Art Basel/Miami. He has been honored at international Biennales in Austria and Florence, Italy, where he won a Medici medal in 2005, and at the American Art Awards in 2010. He graduated from Western Michigan University and studied at the Art Students League of New York as well as the National Academy of Fine Art in New York. Featured in Who's Who in American Art, Ron has won over 200 creative awards and been interviewed on NBC, CBS, CNN, Plum-TV, Aspen’s PBS-TV, and Hamptons/WVVH Television. His paintings are held in numerous museums, private, corporate and university collections in the U.S. and Europe.
