Born in Tokyo, Japan, I now live in Middletown, Connecticut. I am a member of Wesleyan Potters where I create pottery and teach Japanese Sumi-e and pottery. I received a B.A. at Meiji University in Tokyo and pursued my art studies at the College of St. Benedict in Minnesota. I received my Master of Art degree while studying at Sophia University in Tokyo. Although my major was in painting I enjoy sculpting more today.. I have taught art in elementary and high high schools in both Japan and the United States. My art works signature is “Kunie”.
