L. S. Eldridge
Presented by Mena Art Gallery
Painting: Revolutions of Five. L. S. Eldridge won an Award of Excellence from Plein Air Magazine in the 2015 Art of the Heartland competition. His statement: I have always been interested in art. For my seventh birthday I asked my parents for a bike and to visit the Tate in London. Having studied both art and mechanical drawing, I am particularly struck by dynamic spatial relationships. It should be no surprise that conceptually I explore and integrate both of these paths. My work focuses on the representational, the construct telling the story while subjective elements challenge the viewer with directional clues and symbols. I am drawn to many subjects, but my favorites for reinterpretation involve bold elements that I find intrinsically charismatic. I find the timeless, compelling subject matter conjoined with the fluid medium riveting.
