The Center for Contemporary Printmaking (CCP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the art of the print: intaglio, lithography, monotype, silkscreen, woodblock printing, paper works, book arts, and digital arts. Housed in a 19th-century stone carriage house, this 5,000-square-foot historical landmark is located at 299 West Avenue in Mathews Park, in Norwalk.

The CCP carriage house offers 4 separate adjacent printmaking studios, an acid room, a digital computer room, a darkroom for photo etching processes, and a silkscreen wash room. Floor standing equipment includes five intaglio presses, one lithographic press, and a Vandercook proof press. In addition, CCP offers a table top etching press, a book press, a Solarplate™ exposure unit, an aquatint box, a metal shear, and a paper blender. The facility also offer 3 MAC platform computers, a scanner, a large format digital printer, and a copy machine. In the newly renovated Helen Frankenthaler Printmaking Cottage there are two additional studios, including one electric and one manual intaglio press. The cottage includes living accommodations Artists-in-Residence.

The Grace Ross Shanley Gallery features printmaking exhibitions throughout the year, and is handicapped accessible. CCP holds printmaking workshops with staff and visiting instructors, and offers memberships to artist/printmakers, print collectors, and others interested in the art of the print. Artists who participate in the Artist-in-Residence Program have the opportunity to live and work in the Helen Frankenthaler Printmaking Cottage, adjacent to the main building. Edition printing is offered by the CCP Master Printer and Associate Printer. Every year, the MONOTHON, a printmaking fundraiser gives artists the opportunity to collaborate with master printers, and participate in the gala Auction & Party.

The Center for Contemporary Printmaking is a member of the statewide Connecticut Art Trail, a partnership of fifteen world-class museums and historic sites, www.arttrail.org and is also a member of the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County, www.fcbuzz.org

CCP regular hours are Tues.–Sun., 9 AM – 5 PM.
