Burchfield Penney Art Center invited Baltimore landscape painter Philip Koch to be its Artist in Residence for 2015 – 2017. Koch, originally from nearby Rochester, NY traveled repeatedly to Buffalo to paint in areas where the famous 20th century American artist Charles Burchfield used to make his landscapes.
In addition to showing his own oils and works on paper, the Burchfield Penney has invited Koch to curate into the show drawings by Charles Burchfield from the museum’s collection that influenced him.
