Half of a square city block and one half of a mile in circumference, Palmer Square has been the inspiration of photographer, Sharon Hoogstraten’s mission to protect our beloved Boulevards. As a long-time resident, her “Window on the Square” has afforded an ideal location for observing season, weather, time of day, and the changing color spectrum of this unique Chicago common.
Limiting herself to one small sample of the 26 mile Boulevard system, she shows the changing natural beauty of this tree-lined space without regard for fountains, benches, play lots and other devices.In our urban environment it is a precious oasis of tranquility and infinitely changing fascination.
