The Arts Society of Kingston (ASK) celebrates the life and art of Warren Hurley with a Reception on Saturday, September 3, 2016. ASK will be honoring Warren Hurley’s accomplishments and lifelong commitment to the arts with works from the 1970s to present day. Sadly, Warren died suddenly on May 25, 2016 and works from his long career will be provided by his family.

Warren is well known for painting meditative Hudson Valley landscapes that feature simple foregrounds and dynamic skies. He loved to paint snow and enjoyed the challenge of creating the unique colors of light reflecting off of a blanket of snow and the varied properties that distinguish water from ice in a winter pond. Also featured will be a series of elegant still lives comprised of simple bouquets of flowers in glass vases. Warren was intrigued by the color and distortion created by light refracting through the water into a vase.
