Featuring ‘Purple Obsession’: A Designer Vignette: by Stephanie Rapp Interiors

Shed winter’s gray’s by viewing NEW vividly colorful paintings by Teodora Guererra and Carol Young. Both painters ‘pay homage’ to their artistic influences whilst enthralling collectors through unceasing ingenuity and evolution.
Artist Carol Young says of her subject matter, “When I paint structures I am inspired by those that hold history. Ones that have been part of the landscape for a long time – ones that may be gone soon.” Young’s Hopper-esque interpretation of America’s rural landscape unites dramatic light and shadow with a peaceful calm. Vibrant orange radiates against green. A purple sky unwinds behind a teal roof. Whirring with color and forever stationary, Young’s New England iconic barns are everlasting.

Color. Texture. Paint application. This is how Teodora Guererra answers when asked her order of thought and execution when setting up a blank canvas. Color choices are essential to her because they help navigate the feeling of the painting. Influenced by Pat Steir, she uses texture to intuitively define the composition – adding, scraping, covering. And the ‘dripping’ that follows (thinned oil paint) is a response to this texture. “I revel in the challenges and risks along my creative voyage… [It} can be physically and mentally exhausting, but it’s always worth it. To ‘give it your all’ in a day, to rest and awaken and ‘get at it again’ as the sun rises.”

Vignette Description
Dramatic Art celebrating all shades of the color Purple anchor this sublime seating area in which to enjoy a lively conversation or a quiet moment alone. Modern low-slung chairs and an aged brass shagreen console table reflect metallic elements also found in the art. A pony-hair chair in the corner with leather piping adds an element of surprise.
