The Lost Warhols
Six Summit Gallery
Jul. 8, 2024 - Jul. 31, 2020
Six Summit Gallery, in our 10th Year, celebrates the opening of 2 new fine art galleries in Westbrook, CT. SSG presents the New England premiere of Karen Bystedt’s, The Lost Warhols, recently featured by SSG during Art Basel Miami 2019 in Saks Fifth Avenue.
In 1983 Bystedt convinced Warhol to sit for a rare shoot at
‘The Factory’ in NYC and most of the photos were lost. Bystedt found and restored the photos then conceptualized Warhol into art by creating ongoing series of collaborations with famous artists such as Helen Allois’, “Andy and Blue Rose” .
Andy with Flag, by Karen Bystedt can only be seen publicly at one location in America this 4th of July Weekend and onward in 2020. Within the last two months it has been featured in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times and it is the most strategically placed photo, in what critics are describing as the definitive biography of Andy by Blake Gopnik, “Warhol”, (Random House 2020), reaffirming it as not only an iconic photo, but one of the most important photos of Andy Warhol ever taken.
