The Silver Circle Gallery in Putnam, CT is proud to announce the upcoming exhibit “Strictly Fanciful,” a showing of paintings, sculptures, illustrations, designs, and portraits by Connecticut based artist Terry Lennox, an award winning Illustrator and Assistant Professor of Art at Eastern Connecticut State University. Lennox has an extensive resume with an impressive list of professional affiliations, publications, exhibitions, awards, honors, grants, service and administrative activities, and professional and creative accomplishments featuring her paintings, sculptures, illustrations and designs.

One of Terry Lennox’s most noteworthy achievements is her recent American Graphic Design Award for her iconic illustration for the Blue Buffalo Pet Food Company’s line of natural cat food products, Spa Select™ and Blue™, available in PetSmart, Petco, and pet supply stores nationwide, and in advertising seen on approximately 20 national television stations. She has also done graphic design for such prestigious companies as Aetna, General Motors and Scandinavian Airlines. Her work has been used in numerous publications, books and listings–Art in America, American Artist Magazine and Conneticut Chidren’s Museum are among the most recent. Lennox’s fine art can be seen in the Connecticut Children’s Museum’s permanent display of sculptures, in selected invitational and juried group exhibitions throughout the northeast region, and she has created many commissioned portraits that are in private collections today.

A Yale and Syracuse graduate, Lennox has been an educator at Eastern Connecticut State University since 2006, in the Visual Arts Department and the Digital Art & Design Program where she has developed new courses, volunteered her services, and made many contributions to student organizations and activities to enhance the educational community.

In the exhibition at Silver Circle Gallery, Terry’s work is diverse in medium and execution, yet the realistic portaits of loved ones, abstract sculptures, and paintings all convey the common thread of joyfulness. States Lennox, “the creation of these works strictly requires entering a joyful state of suspended practicality and ‘heavy’ thoughts. Finding and maintaining a state of fanciful creativity is a practiced skill. Sometimes, it is quite elusive”. Her choice of color successfully develops these emotions and builds on her intention of joy. Ultimately, Terry’s goal to present fancifulness to the observer is part of her hope to leave an artistic legacy of smiles.
