Greetings from the South Side Community Art Center

The South Side Community Center is located in the culturally rich neighborhood of Bronzeville, Chicago. We have dedicated our space to preserve, conserve and promote the legacy and future of African American art and artists. With each exhibition, event and class we seek to infuse history into the future of art.

Currently we are seeking artwork from young artists between the ages of 13-23. Artwork must depict images confronting violence in the community and/or observations of violence in movies, television, music and social media. Medium can vary and include but is not limited to: oils, acrylic, mixed media, photography, sculpture, etc.

Guidelines:
• Artist age between 13-23
• 2D or 3D
• Images must confront violence in the community
• All images and/or drop offs due September 17th*

We are willing to accept artwork outside of the Chicagoland area but we are not responsible for shipping to and from the center. Artwork delivery/pickup must be arranged by the artist to be picked up by UPS or USPS or any other mailing service. We will not transport art to/from the center.

*For submitting: artwork can be sent as .jpg files or dropped off at the center for review. Please submit .jpg files to [email protected]. Our drop off hours are:
Wednesday-Friday 12-5pm
Saturday 9-5pm
Sunday 1-5pm
