“Plastic Harvest” Will Challenge Gallery Visitors
Hudson Valley duo uses “unnatural resource” in creating their art
Cold Spring, NY.
“Plastic Harvest” opens at Gallery 66 on Friday, March 4 and will feature a collaborative work by Cassandra Saulter and Michelle Mercaldo. The two Hudson Valley artists will challenge gallery visitors to rethink terms they have long taken for granted, including “resource” “discard” “harvest” “family” and possibly even “art” itself. Using plastic as an “unnatural resource” they have sculpted female figures, art, furnishings and jewelry.
In “Plastic Harvest” we re-purpose in order to re-vision a world in which recycling is ramped up several notches.”
“Plastic Harvest” is on view Friday, March 4 through Sunday, March 27 with an opening reception March 4th, 6-9 pm. Gallery 66 is located at 66 Main Street, Cold Spring, NY. Regular winter hours are Friday – Sunday 12-5 pm or by appointment. For more information go to www.gallery66ny.com or call 845-809-5838.
