“PHOOM Too!”

Syntax Mixed Media Artists at The Funky Monkey Café & Gallery

“PHOOM Too!” a dynamic exhibit of over 50 mixed media works of art, opens with a reception at The Funky Monkey Café & Gallery, Cheshire, Connecticut, Friday June 6th from 7 to 9 p.m., and runs through June 30, 2014. Exhibiting artists, who belong to Syntax mixed media artists, combine their diverse creative skills and expertise with a mutual respect and the joy of making art. The public is invited to meet the artists at the opening reception. Admission to the opening and exhibition is free.

Syntax is a group of eight women artists living and working throughout Connecticut who inspire each other to create, grow and share their artwork with the public. Although their artistic training and approaches vary, they share a commitment to creating dynamic and engaging works with a variety of materials and innovative techniques. Syntax artists work independently, then meet regularly to critique each other’s work and share ideas. Each artist’s work is highly individual. However, when exhibited as a collection, an energetic dialogue is created between the works. In this exhibit, the group will also show a collaborative work that will be raffled off to attendees who enter a drawing at the gallery.

Syntax mixed media artists includes Connecticut residents Anne Doris-Eisner, Bethany; Karen Larocque, Rowayton; Regina S. Levin, Westport; Jan McLean, Shelton; Jean Swanson, Bethany; Kelly Taylor, Glastonbury; Diane Ward, Farmington; and Gretchen Wohlgemuth, West Hartford.
