Palate to Palette: The Imagery Collection at SSU is the premiere exhibition of works from the Imagery Estate Winery Collection that was generously donated to Sonoma State University this past December. Palate to Palette, on view from July 14 – July 31, 2016, features a rich and diverse selection drawn from the more than 440 works by regional, national, and internationally known artists that are now part of the Sonoma State University Art Collection.

The exhibition features works by significant artists from American contemporary art, such as Robert Arneson, Chester Arnold, John Baldessari, Squeak Carnwath, Lewis deSoto, Stephen Galloway, Nancy Graves, Mildred Howard, Robert Hudson, Sol LeWitt, Hung Liu, Nathan Oliviera, Pat Steir, William T. Wiley, and several others.
The collection contains artworks originally commissioned as wine labels. “It should be exciting to see the original works of art of images people might be familiar with as wine labels,” says University Art Gallery Director Michael Schwager. “Some of the pieces are very large, and it’s a chance to see the texture and materials you don’t always see in the printed version.”

The University Art Gallery is open Tuesday-Friday, 11:00 – 4:00, & weekends, noon to 4:00. Admission is free; permits are required to park on campus and may be purchased at the machines in any lot for $5-$8. For more information, please call (707) 664-2295.
