In the retrospective light of history, artworks can sometimes be read as “of the time” they were made—not just because of the particular artist that made them but also because of aesthetic or material choices. This exhibition plays to that idea and places studio craft in the context of two-dimensional paintings and works on paper made between 1960 and 1985. Artists whose works are featured include Helen Bitar, Sheila Hicks, Lee Barnes Peck, Arthur Secunda, George Segal, Jean Stamsta, Karl Wirsum, and Claire Zeisler.
