A graduate of Goldsmiths, Marcus Harvey was part of the generation-defining “Young British Artists” (YBA) exhibits as well as the acclaimed traveling exhibition “Sensation” (Royal Academy of Arts, London, 1997; Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin 1998-99; Brooklyn Museum, New York, 1999-2000) which placed the YBAs in the international spotlight. Harvey co-founded Turps Banana
magazine in 2007, a bi-annual UK magazine published about painting, by painters. In 2012, he co-founded Turps Art School, an independent studio program based in London. This is the debut of the artist’s latest works, exploring themes of national identity and masculinity. Frequently exhibiting in Europe, this is Harvey’s first solo exhibition in the United States in over 10 years.
