Although she is primarily known as a painter, Louisa Chase was a prolific draftswoman, as well as a sculptor and printmaker. Throughout her studies at Syracuse University and the Yale School of Art, as well as her subsequent career, Chase worked across media as she developed her artistic style and motifs. The objects in this exhibition, some of which have never been publicly displayed before, span from 1975, the year of Chase’s graduation from the Yale School of Art, through 2011, just five years before her premature death in 2016.
