The Loft Artists Association will hold its second annual tri-state juried exhibition from September 10 to October 11 in both their East and West Galleries at 575 Pacific Street. Gallery hours are Saturday and Sunday, 1 to 4:30 pm.

The public is invited to attend the opening reception on Thursday, September 10 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm, where cash prizes totaling $1,000 will be awarded to artists from Connecticut, New York and New Jersey.

The theme, “Lineal Investigations” was open to all media and focused on innovative interpretations in the use of line as an element of composition. LAA president Ellen Gordon noted that, “our call for entries encouraged artists to let their imaginations soar, with lines that could be straight, geometric, smooth, soft, flowing, loopy, wavy…whatever inspired their creativity. Based on the many entries we received, and the work selected by our juror, we’re happy to have an exhibit representing exceptional artistic achievement.”

Juror Robbin Zella, is Director and Curator of the Housatonic Museum of Art in Bridgeport, CT, where, since 1998, she has organized over 80 exhibitions that have introduced audiences to works by Ansel Adams, Jenny Holzer, Sol Le Witt, Rembrandt, Andy Warhol, and Robert Rauchenberg, among others. Zella previously was the director of Artworks Gallery in Hartford, CT where she worked to bring greater recognition to the artists cooperative by creating community programming that was relative to the time.

Admission and parking are free. (A donation is suggested.)
