The Gallery at R&F Presents Hot Off the Press: New Encaustic Printmaking The Gallery at R&F is pleased to present Hot Off the Press: New Encaustic Printmaking, a group exhibition curated by visiting artist, David A. Clark, who lives and works in Palm Springs, California. Please join us on Saturday, April 7th to celebrate the opening of this seven-artist show with live encaustic printmaking demonstrations from 2-4 pm, followed by an opening reception from 5-7 pm. All events are free and open to the public. David A. Clark’s encaustic print work has drawn attention for it’s graphic style and technical innovation. His work has recently been featured in the 33rd Bradley International Print and Drawing Exhibition, ACE at the Palm Springs Art Museum and with Conrad Wilde Gallery at Aqua Art Miami. David currently has a solo show of his prints running at the Process Museum in Tucson, Arizona. Hot Off the Press is David’s curatorial debut. The title of this exhibition puts a new spin on an old term. With encaustic printmaking, there is no press, but there most definitely is heat. Images are created with pigmented wax melted on a hot metal plate, then lifted off of it onto paper. The process has become increasingly popular in recent years, and this show highlights a strong and visually rich grouping that will give viewers a sense of the many extraordinary works that are being printed with wax today. The participating artists, along with Clark, are Diana Gonzalez Gandolfi, Jane Guthridge, Kathleen Lemoine, Alexandre Masino, George Mason and Paula Roland. The Gallery at R&F in Kingston promotes the various contemporary uses of oil paint and encaustic. The Gallery space is housed within the factory of R&F Handmade Paints, which is one of the few manufacturers of encaustic paint in the world. Located at 84 Ten Broeck Ave, in midtown Kingston, NY gallery hours are Monday – Saturday, 10 am – 5 pm. For further information, call (845) 331-3112.
