CRISS CROSS: ROBYN HORN / BRIAN DICKERSON
Oct 27, 2017 – January 18, 2018
Curated by Miriam Seidel
Two artists who use wood as a primary material, but whose work has emerged out of different traditions, set their work in conversation here. Both have created new work in response to the other’s approach for this exhibition.
The Center, known for its new approaches to wood as a material for art, is the perfect venue for an exhibition juxtaposing the works of Robyn Horn and Brian Dickerson, whose work illuminates the intersections of texture and finish, paint versus natural surface, sculpture and painting, craft and fine art.
CRISS CROSS will be celebrated during the Center’s Annual Founders’ Fundraiser, Sat, Nov 11. Artists of the two exhibitions, along with guest curator Miriam Siegel, will give a tour of the gallery and talk about their ideas and processes.
CRISS CROSS: ROBYN HORN / BRIAN DICKERSON is part of CraftNOW Philadelphia, which unites the leading institutions and artists of Philadelphia’s craft community in a celebration of the city’s rich legacy of craft, its internationally-recognized contemporary craft scene, and its important role as an incubator for arts based in wood, clay, fiber, metal and glass.
